Publications generally involve coordinating the schedules of at least three people: to write copy, edit it, and lay it out for the printer. My professional background allows me to simplify the process by copyediting text during production — as I did for Deadwood Magazine and still do for the Bluegrass Gazette, among others. Even if an editor is already in place, your publication will receive one more look from a meticulous and detail-oriented proofreader — still another chance to catch those small errors that sometimes slip through. It will also be produced with a sensitivity to the placement and meaning of text (the use of pull quotes, for example, or editing headlines to fit) that contributes to a readable and well-organized document. |
